I am in the process of selecting a valet service company. What kind of insurance information should I be looking for and what are the minimum requirements?

Hello, depending on where you are planning to operate your business, but you would need the following:
General Liability Insurance, Garage Keepers Legal Liability Insurance and Workmen’s Compensation Insurance.
Thank you

As part of your qualification process, request a certifacte of insurance and show the documents to your broker. He can advise you.

I own a valet company. Unfortunately there aren't any policies that I can carry to insure me for street parking. One of my attendants totalled a car and I am curious (for future reference) how would I be able to insure an account without a parking lot (street parking).

If I was starting a small version of Valet Parking, what would be some immediate items I would need? For example flashlights, vests, key holder, cones or marking strips, etc...

Runner,
What are your goals? Do you want to park for an event, a lot, a hotel? I'd say that insurance is the most important starting point. The personal liability you assume operating without insurance is not worth the money to be made in the short run. Please post more info about your situation.

Tama, you should check with Driver Alliant. They're very good and very thorough and they work with you personally. They are also pretty picky about who they carry though and you'll have to have a good business plan, several accounts, good cash flow, and hopefully some experience. You'll need to have secure lots as well.
Insurance is very tough for start-ups because start-ups come and go so often, making it very high risk. Your policy will be expensive, so make sure you can budget that out. Typical payment is $500/month/location, based on geographical position.
